Hi everyone!
Late night opening at the museum tonight. Good night, busy night but I'm SO tired. No cakes this week. Made ganache for dipping today for the museum staff..they were totally crazy over it.
Speaking of no cakes...I'm headed off next week M-F on a trip so I'll be holding Cake Club on SATURDAY instead. I'll open it up Saturday morning instead of Friday night.
I'm off to bed now...hope to see lots of fun cakes in the morning!

This is what my Friday looked like! A Fifty Shades of Grey inspired cake, and a Unicorn cake for a little girl's 1st birthday. I didn't get pics of the smash cake I made though. Boo. But I'm pretty excited with how well these turned out. The items on the 50 cake are real, as requested. lol

Lovin everyone's cakes and cookies!! Mine this week is for my aunt,( it's for today she hasn't seen it yet!!) I went for vintage/ shabby chic scrap board photo frame!! I worried it was a bit too busy but then scrapbooks are!!

Giggles love the cakes. Carla your cookies are amazing. I still need lots of practice on doing cookies.
I made pumpkin cake balls. I can’t seem to get the candy melts thin and smooth enough; it always seem to be thick. On the bright side my co-workers thought they were great.
I made a smash cake and cupcakes for a first birthday.

Beautiful work shellbell and Marian!
Marian what are you using to thin the candy melts? I've used shortening in the past but I've read that paramount crystals are what you really want to use and I think I saw someone here say they used Gulf Wax with good results.

@Carla83 I love your cookies! I have yet to try cookies, or even make royal icing for that matter. lol.

Hi everyone! My apologies for my absence in FNCC as of late. Long story short, it's been a nutty couple of months both at work and at home and it hasn't helped that my tablet is crapping out so I can no longer download photos from my camera on to it.
@GIGGLEBOX2014 your cakes both look great!
@Carla83 love your cookies. The Spooky is so fun!
@Marian64 I never have any luck melting those darn candy melts. I usually end up saying lots of bad words and saying that I'm never gonna use them again! Lol. Your hombre color on the cake looks very pretty!
@shellbell181 your cake is beautiful!
I've been really happy with the cakes I've made in the last couple of months so I'll share some of them here and then post them all to my profile if anyone wants to see them all.
I tried out a recipe for a gluten free chocolate cake and took it to work to get feedback. A coworker liked it do much that asked me to do a last minute cake for a bridal shower she was attending. I kept the decorations simple but loved the way it looked. The roses are wafer paper and are made following a tutorial by The Violet Cake Shop. The strand of pearls is made with candy pearls.
I had a request for a fairy themed cake and was sent a couple of pictures each with a different component that they liked. I managed to include all the details they wanted and maybe got a little OCD with it! Lol
A friend turned 50 last month and I made her a Harley themed cake which she loved! :-) It was on the simple side but I really liked how it turned out. The motorcycle on top is a toy which saved me so much time.
This week was my creation for Halloween, my cannibal pumpkin Floyd. I made him for the Chemistry Club's Halloween party. He is midnight pumpkin layer cake and his victim is RKT covered in fondant. His arms and stem are modeling chocolate and his teeth are peanuts, a little trick I learned from Halloween Wars. I think he's one of my favorites to date!
Pictures to follow.

HOly Cow cakers! You all did such amazing work this week! I'm seriously blown away by the cakes and cookies! Altho...I have to say "Floyd" has tickled my funny bone! LOL!
We are off tomorrow for a week to celebrate our 30th. (Yes, just the two of us leaving the kid and Gramma at home!!!) Due to getting in really late Friday night I will be starting FNCC on Saturday morning instead. Have a GREAT week everyone!

Wow, so much great work from everyone this week. My favourite has gotta be Floyd though, that's brilliant!!
I had one 29th birthday cake order and one little boy's birthday order this week, as well as starting work on display cakes for an upcoming expo. I've only got a pic of the 29th birthday cake though! I was having fun playing with a torn effect on the fondant :)

Wow, fantastic work, everyone!!!
I have nothing for this week, except some soccer cupcakes for my daughter's season end thing. Just "green grass" flavored buttercream, with a foil-wrapped mini chocolate soccer ball on top. So not anything spectacular - just enough to thrill a bunch of 5-yo on the field. I was too busy with other stuff, to make a spectacular-anything this week :-(. Now , on to 2 days off school for my kids, so nothing at all will get done in the house or on baking front. Just kids, kids stuf, parent-teacher conferences, and more kid stuff LOL )))
I have a possible coming up, for adult cupcakes - not "adult-themed", but adult-flavored (with alcohol in them). Weirdly enough for the busy cake season coming up, I am trying to keep my December/ early January clear, as we maybe are going on a family trip.
@kstevens your wafer paper roses turned out awesome! I need to play with wafer paper more. Oh, and I say a great many very, VERY bad words, when cake-decorating, which is why I don't decorate when my young kids are around )))
@catlharper - happy anniversary, and enjoy your time out sans kid-related responsibilities!

Thank you all for the comments! Floyd was so much fun to do!
Happy anniversary Cat! I hope you enjoy your week away!
@me_me1 that cake is gorgeous! I love the torn effect!
@LelekBolek the roses are the second type of flower I have made using wafer paper. I find it really easy to use and it's nice that there is no drying step needed for them like when using gumpaste or fondant. I hope to expand my flower base using wafer paper. I need to find the time to try more but there never seems to be enough hours in my days. The roses are very simple to do but look impressive I think. Here is the link to the tutorial I followed:

I keep coming back and looking at Floyd and his gnashy teeth - makes me giggle :)
Thanks very much for the tutorial link. I've gone back and had another look at your roses - so pretty!
I've been playing with wafer paper at the moment and (again) that torn sort of look. I think I may be a smidge obsessed with the torn look just now! At least three of six display cakes I'm currently working on have got something torn on them - haha! Might have to go super smooth with one of the others just to show I can actually do that too! This is a pic of my first play attempt with the wafer paper.
