Is it just me, or are eggs getting harder to separate? I buy eggs from several different stores, have separated them at room temperature as well as cold and have the same issue. They have a really thick white and actually tear away from the yolk which breaks it. They appear to be fresh (smell, taste and perform fine) but this has been going on for a few months now. Anyone else having this problem? I'm in the midwest.

I have not encountered this problem.  The eggs seem the same as always.  I am in Tennessee.

Hopefully, it’s temporary— and the eggs work fine it’s just a pain to deal with. I have noticed it’s the big several dozen boxes of eggs, whether bought at CostCo or at the grocery.

That is pretty cool. I have never tried the above. All I ever did was crack the egg and put the whole egg in my hand. The whites will fall through into the bowl and the egg yolk will stay in your hands. It is kind of messy but it does work because I tried it once. I will try the empty water bottle video above next time. It looks a lot less messy!!!

@-K8memphis I saw that video tute about a year ago and had to try it.  It worked really well at first.

as long as the bottle was fresh (clean at the hole) and the eggs were single in the bowl with the yolk just slightly protruding from the top of the whites....it worked.  But it only worked for about 3 eggs then it started tearing them up and breaking the yolks.  Tried it 2 or 3 times before giving it up and using my hands as usual.
