Hello!

I have this cake coming up and I want to know how to make edible (silver) flakes to stick on it? I am using CK silver flakes brand

Should i use fondant base? Or buttercream base? My buttercream is crisco based as its for a kosher customer.

How to make them stick?

Tips? I plan to either make my fondant or buttercream gray.

thanks

if there's any moisture it can either help them to adhere or dissolve them entirely so they look like polka dots -- i'm talking about the flakes made from gum arabic -- so for me the best way is to sprinkle them on after delivery -- if you need them to stick on the sides -- try applying them before your buttercream sets up -- idk -- can't really remember having to do that -

you could try brushing on some kind of thin corn syrup -- but you gotta test this first -- just an idea --

oh y'know what else i've done -- made a funnel like a parchment piping bag and let the flakes slide down & out the opening so they hit the sides -- have a parchment covered pan underneath to catch the extras and re-use them for that cake -- think i've done that for sugar crystals or something -- might work for the flakes
