I am a hobby baker and I have an idea for a cake which has an hourglass as the centerpiece.  I would really like to make the glass portion out of isomalt but am having difficulty seeing how I can do that.  I've looked for tutorials or written instructions that are similar.  I thought maybe blowing an oblong bowl then cutting off the end of the bowls with a heated knife.  I've never blown isomalt before so I would likely have to try several times to get the right shape and cutting it w/out shattering it.   I can live with it not being a working hourglass but just cant picture it as fondant or even maybe wafer paper.  Any suggestions would be welcome!

I am only a hobby baker but found a cute looking cookie that looks like an hourglass. See below.

Thanks!  I had found that too.  Unfortunately, this is a one dimensional hourglass where I am looking to make a 3 dimensional one.
