I am doing a wedding cake in two weeks.  I've made gumpaste swags that will be attached to  crusting buttercream tiers.  My question is, how do I attach them to the cake?  Just use buttercream or royal icing or edible glue???   I'd prefer to attach them when I'm setting the cake up at the reception, so that means the cake will be fully crusted.  The swags a large and weigh 2 oz each.  My fear is that their weight will make them pull off.  Thoughts?

Note:  There are about 16 of these swags going on two of the five tiers.  There was no way I could make them and then attach them to the cake while they were soft.  I formed them (to dry) on my dummy cakes, so that they dried curved and not straight.

Thank you for any advice!

Christina
