I've always done Madeira cake under fondant due to it being denser/stronger to stand the weight.

I've been asked to  do a belle cake (belle doll from beauty and the beast with the dress as the cake) but the customer has specified Victoria sponge wirh jam and buttercream - do you think it will be  ok under fondant or should i stick to Madeira cake?
