Help Needed Asap - Feather Attachment

Hi I'm in the middle of making a fondant shoe. I have the main shoe made but want to decorate it with some peacock eye and sword feathers (real ones).
Can anyone advise the best way to attach the feathers to my fondant shoe?
I also have a diamonte heart with ribbon to add? How can this be attached?
Maybe try royal icing as the cement to attach feathers. Don"t know if feather is standing up or flat.
