Looking for recommendations on gel colors.  I've had problems lately with the Wilton gel colors.  Today I finished a Christening cake ordered with violets on a buttercream cross.  Using American buttercream for cake and flowers.  Used a whole bottle of Wilton violet, looks country blue to me and the cake is for a little girl!  Nothing I can do about it now.  Had a similar problem a few weeks ago with the Wilton bright yellow which ended up looking like Halloween orange.  Had time to re-do that cake mixing my own colors.  Any better brands out there?  Unfortunately I only have Michael's here and with notice for orders that's my only option.

Thanks!

I use Wilton gel colors all the time and have no problems, except with black which always has a greenish cast.  I just mix my colors until I am satisfied.  When I want a lavender color, I add a bit of rose to the violet.  Purple/violet/lavender is a very unstable color and needs to be protected from light.
