Hi everyone,

I have a dessert business in my country and I'm looking to improve my "presence" in my city. One of the ways I thought to do this is to do giveaways but my cakes and desserts are more expensive than what is locally available due to the cost of ingredients I use. So in a way, I'm somewhat of an exclusive baker (a position I quite like because it helps weed out a lot of time wasters and I can focus on those that understand, appreciate and can afford my products). I don't want to loose this exclusivity. My second thought was to collaborate with related and non related small businesses like a popular candy store and a clothes related business. I'm trying to think of how the collaboration will benefit them but in truth, I'm the one who stands to gain more. Which brings me to question why they would want to collaborate when it doesn't really add or take away from their business. It's important that they benefit somehow so all is fair. Any advice?

I forgot to add that with the giveaways, I risk opening myself up to time wasters and such which is why I'm not very keen on the idea.

First of all, you will surely be inviting the time wasters into your business.  Sad but true.

Your goodies could be an incentive to purchase or use the services of the business.  For example at the clothing store:  With any purchase of $10 or more, enjoy a delightful cupcake from Jel's!  When the dessert is given, it should include a card that specifies "high end" confections.

That's such a great idea. Having a card saying something that specifies "high-end" confections. Thanks so much
