So I've been asked to make a Frog cake, like they want it to look like a REAL frog. So I was thinking a poison dart frog since the colors are fun. Well for the life of me I can't figure out what pans to use to make a 3D Frog cake. I've scoured the internet and just found a few pictures. No advice or tutorials. Any would be nice! Has anyone done this before? I don't need it to feed many but I'm trying to figure out how this would work in my mind and can't seem to get it! TIA!

Hi there, i would just make a wooden structure that is on a diagnal to support the chest up to under the chin. Then stack cake up to it and carve the shape. (I guess the cake would look a bit like stairs if that makes sense). Pad out/round out under the chin with either RK or modelling chocolate and cover the whole thing in modelling choc. I would probably make the legs out of rice krispies or modelling chocolate depending on how big the final cake is. You would probably also have a skewer in the legs to help support it. I hope this mkes sense. Good luck. I would love to see final pictures.

Thank you ladies! I've seen the video but I need the frog laying down not sitting up. ;) I will check into finding the wood structure or something like that! Appreciate you taking the time to reply! Pic will definitely follow! This dinosaur cake has been my only 3D structure!

I googled and found this frog cake. I feel like you could just make a sort of oval shape from carving cake and then add the arms and legs after, using just fondant or RKT covered in fondant

Thanks so much! I have seen this guy on there and was trying to think of cake sizes but I think you are correct. I need to make an oval shape and so from there! Thanks so much!

No problem. It kinda seems like an egg shaped pan would work or football shaped pan and carve from there ...
good luck! Come back and post the picture when you've finished I'd love to see it!

Well the little boy changed his mind and wanted a poison dart frog on a lilly pad! Haha this was much easier!

Your cake is so cute!!! You did a great job!!!
