Hi all;  didn't know which to choose; baking or decorating.  Well; I made a 14x14x2 square cake x2 for a wedding cake.  When I was crumb coating; I noticed a small split on the end.  I got it coated and in the fridge.  It appears to be holding up.  But; what would you advise me to do.  It is the bottom tier in which I will place dowls in it to stack the next tier after I ice it.  Do you think the icing would hold?  Please advise...

Gosh slimjen1, I don't know?!  How about filling the split with melted chocolate, which is a lot stronger than frosting - white chocolate for mild flavors, milk or dark chocolate for stronger flavors.

If your cake is nicely levelled and kept flat during transport the icing should act as the perfect glue.
