I recently made this cake. It was fine until I came back a few hours later and the flowers had fallen off and the buttercream had cracked on the bottom cake in two places. I put dowels in the cake when it was chilled and I'm wondering if that caused the cracks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe it settled and air bubbles caused the cracks?
