Hi,

I am making a wedding cake for the first time in a few weeks. They have requested 2 tiers which i have not done before. I have a basic 20cm (8inch) springform pan which will be the base layer. Does anyone have any recommendations for what size pan will look good for the top layer?

Thanks

Hayley

How many servings do they need? I usually do a 6 on top of an 8.

How many servings?

But usually 2 or 3 inches smaller, so a 6 inch or 5 inch. Stack the cake pans on top of each other to better visualize the dimensions.

I assume you will torte the cake to be 4 inches high? So the 8" round, 4" high serves about 28. And a 6" round serves 10... you are short servings.

Maybe buy a 10" pan and make a 10" and an 8" round for 70 servings, if your design will adapt to a large top tier.

A  six inch layer usually is what goes best on top of an 8 inch from what I have discovered.
