Pudding Mix Instead Of Gelatin

So I know you can use jello gelatin mix for a different flavor cake, but there's some flavors of the pudding that I would love to try. Is it alright to just switch it out for the pudding mix or do I have to alter the recipe? It's a scratch recipe btw. Thanks in advance. smiley

As far as I know you can just dump it in.  I think that's a lot of what some cake mix doctor recipes do.  However, and I'm totally biased on this, why ruin a lovely scratch cake with artificial flavors and chemicals?

What flavor are you trying to create?
