My rum cake recipe calls for a butter glaze with 1/2 c. Rum.  I just ran out.  Can I omit the rum or should I increase the water by the 1/2 c. The glaze is similar to a simple syrup.  Thanks

got any orange juice maybe? -- yes you could use water but it sure won't be the same -- what do you have to flavor the water -- even some vanilla or something

Thanks for your response.  I ended up not making a glaze.  The cake was good with just powdered sugar but it would have been better with the rum.  I thought of adding other flavors but since there was rum in the actual cake I wasn't sure what flavors would go with that.  In retrospect, the vanilla probably would have been good.  Thanks again.
