This morning at Wal-mart, I was looking for something for a SpongeBob cake and came across some small bendable ones (.88 cents) that would do fine. Also found some small Dora the Explorer and Care Bears (all .88 cents). Needless to say, I stocked up for those last minute orders. The cashier thought I had lost my marbles when I bought all they had. Just a find that I thought I would share.

At our Wal-Mart, they were on the very first aisle of the toy department.

Wow Mac! I went there last Thursday looking for Spongebob and couldn't find any. You are so lucky! I had to pay 9.00 for two little figures of Spongebob and Patrick. Which Wal-mart? Loop and Fourth street or Gilmer Road?

Gilmer Rd. A short aisle with bicycles in front of it.

I used the dora and boots one for the cake that i did in my gallery. They were cheap and saved me loads of time, not to mention the copywright issue.

I buy cake kits from my Wal-mart bakery for $5.00. I just look through the cake book and ask them if they have it in stock and buy it. Then I can do what I want on my own cake. icon_wink.gif

The Wal-Marts here won't sell their cake toppers anymore. I used to buy them for $5.00 but they have changed bakery managers and neither one will sell them now.

The dollar stores are a great place to look. I bought the princess figurines for all my castle cakes at them. I got quite lucky during that winn-dixie closing thing too, when I bought out the bakery depts. stuff...I got rubbermaid tub after tub of those kits more than likely 1000 sets for around $50.00!

I had a friend that had an ice cream store and they did ice cream cakes. He closed his store and gave me all his supplies. I didn't have to buy any 1/4 sheet cake boxes for over a year. And every now and then, he calls that he has found something else. Got all kinds of sprinkles and plastic cake toppers like bowling, guitars , records (perfect for cupcakes). He even gave me several pre-packaged frozen cakes. I have to admit that I didn't keep those. I have a reputation, you know!
