Hi Everyone, I've been tasked with making a dummy cake for my brother's wedding. It's going to be love story style, but they want it in the wedding colors, red and gold. I figured that it's easy enough for the cake to be topped with a red fondant, and I was planning on having the silhouettes cut out of Mexican Gumpaste and either painted or sprayed gold. My question is, should I cut the figures out, then paint, then attach to cake? Should I wait for the paint to dry before attaching to the cake -- or then will it be too brittle to conform to the curves of the tier (round cake dummy)? Any guidance would be appreciated!
