I had never heard of mudcakes until coming on CC. Can someone please tell me what the difference is (or if there is one)? Also, I read about cakes people have made and they all sound so yummy - anyone want to share a recipe? I've printed off the ones from here and I'm going to try them, but I wanted to do a taste test between a bunch.

Thanks!

I always thought Mud Cakes were the very chocolatey cake, topped with marshmallows or marshmallow cream, then iced with a chocolate icing. (May have nuts or coffee flavor added sometimes?) Very tasty! icon_smile.gif

*There is a recipe in the Cake Mix Doctor for Mississippi Mud Cake.

As far as can tell this is a name give by Europeans for chocolate type cakes. I have seen the recipes in some of my UK books and they are simular as our chocolate cakes. HTH

Several Australian CC posters use mud cakes a lot as a base cake for carving, decorating, everything it seems! This is the mud cake I am curious about, although I did see the recipe for the Mississippi Mud cake.
Thanks!
