Help! I need unthaw my cakes covered in fondant. Do i leave the wrapping on the cakes or do i leave them on? Does leaving them on prevent "sweating" Or will leaving the wrapping make it stick to the cake?

Thanks!

I can't answer your question, but I am curious to know too. So BUMP! icon_wink.gif

Take off whatever wrapping is touching the fondant. Place the cake inside a box and let it thaw. Resist the urge to touch the condensation that will form on the outside. It WILL evaporate!

revel:
so glad you asked this!! Did you have your fondant-covered cakes in the refrigerator or freezer? I thought fondant wasn't supposed to be put in the freezer?

LOL..yikes! icon_surprised.gif I put them in the freezer! My instructor said it was ok to put them in there.
I just forgot to ask about thawing them. I guess i'll see what happens. icon_cry.gif

I put a post up before asking if you could freeze fondant decorated cakes... and I got quite a few answers that said that they freeze fine you just have to thaw them slowly in the fridge! icon_biggrin.gif I am going to try this for a wedding cake, so I hope it workds! icon_lol.gif I think it should though as long as we do what Diane said and just leave it alone and let it do it's thing. icon_biggrin.gif
