I have made the MMF using Walmart Brand Marshmallows and it seemed a little ivory when I put it up to something white. I compared the Walmart Brand marshmallows to the name brand in the store and they seemed the same color, anyone else experience this?
Also, what all flavorings have you tried adding? I'm looking at trying to make some different flavors with Lorann Oils.

my MMF usually turns out very white, but if i really need to be sure it is super white I add icing whitener (titanium dioxide) to my MMF when the Marshmallows are still melting. this will pretty much garantee white mmf no matter what brand of marshmallows you use.
i have noticed w/ a different store brand that the marshmallows had a off white tint-like when they are overheated so i switched to a name brand
I have done lots of flavors. Rasp. is really good(on choc/choc cake) I have done butterscotch. The Bavarian Creme is YUM! and lemon always a good choice. Just a few of the ones I have tried. Now the newest thing I have done and granted it is not white but if you need a variation I have tried the Strawberry Marshmallows that are available right now and they are so good!! But you will get a pink fondant.
thanks everyone! It was a few weeks ago when I made it for the first time, and I cannot remember which recipe I used and if I even added any flavorings to it! I didn't notice the difference until I had it side by side with white Satin Ice. I'll have to make another batch and see how it turns out! The flavored marshmallows sound yummy. A quick way to get the color without kneading it all in if someone wanted the flavor!
I just ordered a whole bunch of Lorann Oil flavors and can't wait to try some different combinations. I have been decorating for almost 11 years but now I'm a stay at home mom and will be doing alot more cakes (hopefully) as some supplemental income.
