I think these are a great invention. I don't own them but have heard good things about them from those who do.

I use a Rubbermaid under-the-bed storage box with nonskid mats on the bottom. Works beautifully and will hold about 40 cupcakes. Or (I think Pootchi on this site suggested this) using the same box concept, put a 1" styrofoam board in the bottom, stick toothpicks in it, and impale the cupcakes (sounds so cruel
)
I'd love a cupcake courier or two, but the shipping to Canada makes it too expensive.
I use cupcake carrier inserts.

But, I've been considering buying the cupcake courier mentioned above. Kind of waiting to hear some reviews first though.
I've used a large cake box and put a cake board down so the box doesn't move around on you. Worked great and was not that costly. I have the cupcake carrier and didn't like it. The cupcakes fell over on a drive and destroyed some. I'm talking about the cupcake carrier from Wilton. It worked great for storing at home though.
I've started using the cupcake inserts, just because they are so inexpensive and handy. Before they came out, I used styrofoam trays that were used in grocery stores for produce. They resemble egg cartons, only the cavity is rounded. Each tray could hold 24 cupcakes. Unfortunately, after years of use, they are starting to crack. Hence, I use the inserts now! But I noticed on my last trip to the store that they now have clear plastic trays for apples. I'm thinking of asking if they re-use them, or throw them away.
I bought the cupcake inserts for an upcoming cake and thought I would just slide them into a full sheet cake box. I thought the cupcake courier looked brilliant but I don't know how many of these cakes I would ever make and if I would use them that often to merit the price.
