Hi all,

I have a cake due next week. There will be an edible image on top. The cake shop says the image is best if used within 5 days. It is printed & sealed. I would like to go out of town this weekend, so trying to figure out my options....

Can I freeze it?

Can I apply it to the cake and freeze the cake?

The cake shop didn't recommend freezing the cake with it applied because it might bleed. Just thought I would see if anyone has had success preserving the images a little longer or applying them ahead of time.

Thanks!

I've kept them considerably longer than that and they've been fine. Did they come in a ziplock plastic bag? I would keep them in that (or put them in one) . It's been a while; I think mine may have had some paper covering the image side. (Perhaps baking paper would do? Not sure on that.) In any case, keep them flat in a cold place - just a drawer or on a cupboard shelf. Should be fine.

Correction. For some reason I couldn't edit my post: I meant in a cool dry place (not a cold place.)
