Hi everyone! So my local Satin Ice supplier is giving away free 2 pound buckets of gum paste because they're going to expire on the 10th of December.

I totally grabbed one!!

Will it still be safe to use after the 10th? Should I scrap it or can I use it on non edible decorations like wired flowers? Will it still work the same?

In any case, I can still use it for practice at home, so yay!

Hi

On the Satin Ice website they say that the best before date means that in order to experience the optimal texture, taste, color and aroma of the product, they recommend using the fondant and gum paste before this date. Once it has been opened, assuming it is still under the best before date and has been handled and stored properlythey recommend using it within 6 months.

I have often used Satin Ice gum paste and fondant up to 3 - 5 months past the best before dates with no issues at all.

Hope this helps
