Can anyone give me some tips or tricks to apply small black fondant pieces to a white covered fondant cake without the black bleeding. Thanks so much!

I have never had issues with bleeding but I use piping gel not water to paste the pieces.

Hi! I use water, and I just make sure that my paint brush is damp, not dripping wet. I wet the black piece, and lightly dab it with a tissue if there are any drops of water collected on it. You just want it to be shiny looking. And then stick on.

If it's a larger piece, I wet the white fondant only in the middle, put on the black piece, adjust it if I need to, and then run a damp, not dripping, paint brush under the edge of the black piece.

Or you could use shortening to stick it on.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, I believe I've used piping gel a while back on another project but forgot about it. I think will also test the damp paintbrush that has been the best instructions on how to use the water to attach pieces. I know I've been wetting my brush too much . Thanks for your advice I feel much more confident about attempting this cake!
