Hi Everyone,

this Friday on the November 4th I have a cake order which is a two tiered buttercream cake. This is the first time so I need some help in planning.  I have a 8" base and 6" top cake with rosette pattern.

When should I bake the cake? when should I make the buttercream? When should I start decorating the cakes?

as I have to travel 10 miles how do I travel with my two tier cake ? I'm very nervous please if someone can help.

Thanks you

You should bake the cakes now, torte if you plan to, wrap well and get them n the freezer.  Make the bc today also.  Make any decos tomorrow.  Order your support system if you haven't already.  Amazon carries SPS, and with Prime you can just get it in time.
Pick up other supplies you need tomorrow:  base board, box, non-skid mat.
For a delivery on Friday, you will finished the cake on Thursday night.  If you're planning to fill and settle it, that will be done Wednesday night.

To travel with the cake, and hopefully you have a van or SUV with a flat area for the cake to sit, then box the cake, lay down the non-skid mat, place the box and off you go.

Take a repair kit with you:  exrta bc, extra decos, all tips used on the cake, paper towels, small palette knives - I had a repair kit that was massive.

This woman is my mentor. I know you don't have much time left now, sorry, saw your query just now. But for future reference use this. This is my best friend when I am making even multiple cakes on one weekend!

You can start shopping for your cake a week in advance. Rest, follow this guide.

Thank you for your advice I will save it and always look into it before planning. I have so far made the cake and the buttercream tomorrow is the big day to crumbcoat them and do the final design.  I just had one question once I complete the whole buttercream cake do I leave it outside as the buttercream becomes dry in the fridge.

Thanks

As long as you don't have any fillings that need to be refrigerated it's fine to leave the cake out of the fridge, but if you can cover the cake and refrigerate it - cold cake travels better and is more sturdy.
