Hey everyone,

Sorry if this is a bit basic or has been asked before.

I am making my first tiered cake - bottom is seven inches with five inch top. I have forgotten to pick up straws for supporting wondered if it was essential or if somebody could offer advice?

Both tiers are plain vanilla sponge and are coated with sugarpaste.

Thanks :)

If each tier is not higher than 3" (6" total) and we'll chilled you could get away with it but I wouldn't take a risk. You can use straws, wooden dowels anything really as it's a very small cake.

Is it for you or does someone pay for it?

Thanks for replying!

Each tier is less than three inches and I have a cake disc under the top layer.

It is a very last minute birthday cake for a family member so no payment involved!

Well then go ahead. I wouldn't worry about support as the cake will only be 5 to 6 inches in total high. It's basically one tier just different sized layers lol.
