there is also this recipe that I've tried before. It also makes nice lace. It was slightly more brittle than the royal icing recipe.

Hi Ropalma, what exactly is a royal icing mix? I certainly don't know what it is or what it looks like. Can it be made at home?
I recently used this recipe and was very happy with the results. It seemed a little thick and goopy when I finished mixing, but it made beautiful, flexible lace.
ingredients:
1/2 cup boiled distilled water
1 Tbs Tylose powder
1 Tbs powdered sugar
2 Tbs corn starch
1/2 tsp meringue powder
1/2 tsp liquid glucose
1 tsp glycerin
1/2 tsp white gel color OR color of your choice
Directions:
1. Add tylose powder to boiling water and mix until clear.
2. Mix in powdered sugar well.
3. Add cornstarch and combine.
4. Mix in meringue powder.
5. Add glucose and glycerin.
6. Add gel color.
I used a kitchen aid mixer. This will keep for about a week in an airtight container in the fridge. I dry twice -- spread the mix in the mold and bake at 175 F for about 15 minutes. Then spread more mix (a second layer) and bake another 10-15 minutes. When cool, invert and gently peel the mold away from the lace, using a spreading tool to hold lace in place.
