Some folks asked me to post the SMB that I airbrushed in gold ombre so here it is :

There's a lot of back and forth on whether it's possible or not but I assure you it is. I have some professional airbrushes and compressors and it turns out that those didn't do a great job (even on a light application, you'll get some pooling due to the high fat content of SMB. For a darker ombre look, it just wansn't looking right). Someone had recommended Wilton's color mist series and it turns out that was the right solution in the end. I needed about 3 cans to do the job on this cake which went from dark gold on the bottom to ivory on the top.

Thought I would finally share!

Cheers,

Frank
