I just bought a tub of Sugar Dress for the first time and I need it to be black. I don't like the idea of using so much food coloring so I thought I could pre-darken it with cocoa powder then add a little black powdered color.  Is this a workable idea? Any changes you would suggest to the recipe to mix the Sugar Dress? Thanks so much for any advice.

i have only used the sunnyside up bakery lace product  -- i've read that the already colored lace mixes and adding color yourself is not as good a result as using it white and figuring out how to color it after that --

again i haven't done it and i don't have any laying around to test but i think a couple coats of black luster would be more efficient than dealing with the chemistry of the mix so...not that you can't do it but it's not as sure fire
