I need to make a groom's cake with the jack daniel logo.  does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the writing really neat and clean?

I agree - edible icing images are going to give you the cleanest look.

I've got a similar cake coming up but Wild Turkey instead of Jack Daniels. I'm planning on doing a little wooden barrel with an edible icing image of the logo on the top of the barrel.

I agree with the previous ladies, an edible image WILL give you the cleanest look. You can try taking the print to your local grocery store bakery and ask them to print it for you. That's what I do when I run out of edible sheets and/or edible ink. You should call around first because some will say they can't do it for you. The second option that I can think of is: lay the print on top of your cake and trace it. Then, take either edible markers or gel color to fill it all in. It's time consuming but, it also looks great (my personal opinion) because of the authenticity of freehand drawing/tracing
