Clearly, the problem is the dual color issue. Solid fur is done with a grass tip or other extruder. Doing that multicolor in gum paste or fondant is too much!

So, let's say we love that textur-y fur, though. Make a bunch of saran wrap tubes of buttercream to go in your piping bag. If you've never done this, go look at the Sugarcraft video by Alan for russian piping tips. You will be emulating a technique used in other industries called caning. It's done to make beads.

This will give you a bunch of colors, though certainly not as fine as that amazing bear!
