SOOOO cool coming in from work and seeing all of this!!!

@hep275 ‍ I love your cake but my favorite part is what we call the backpack...SO perfect!

@Natka81 ‍ That cake is gorgeous! That was a lot of handpainting for all those wavy edges...just beautiful!

@kstevens ‍ Love Love Love Carter's birthday cake and cupcakes! My hubby asked me why I can't make cookies like that for him too! LOL! Of course he was ALL over the bacon topped cupcakes too...yes, he lurks over my shoulder! LOL! (BTW...Bridal shower cake with a frog? Did I miss the picture?)

@LelekBolek ‍ What a happy cake! Very summertime happy!

@Dar917 ‍ I love your dragon eggs. I'm listening to Harry Potter in my car on my way to work each morning and I keep thinking about your cakes! LOL!

I'm glad everyone had a great week. For those in the US...have a lovely Father's Day!

Here's my large dragon egg cake! I put a circle of fondant on the bottom of it and that was a bad idea; it kind of slid to one side and this is the least effed-up looking side. Oh well, I learn something new every time I do one of these!

@Natka81 that's really pretty. What do you use to get the black edges?

The edges are actually golden. The cake was under a tent and I din`t have my camera and a chance to take good picture.

@catlharper ‍ my bridal shower cake is right above your post.  The cupcakes are tasty.  I can share the recipe I used if you want to whip some up for your hubby for tomorrow.....  I'm sure you can handle the cookies too.  A bit time consuming but overall not that bad to do.

@kstevens ‍  I swear it wasn't showing up! LOL! But it is simply TOO adorable! Seriously just the cutest thing! LOVE the "kisses"!

Everything is so pretty!

And speaking of not being able to take a good picture, i made this cake for a twin boys birthday. It looks so much better in person! The theme of the cake was superheroes fight villans on a broken down overpass. There are edible lightposts, road signs, rocks and rkt-made overpass and chunks of road. Buttercream grass, and plastic toys. The candles went on each side of the overpass, for each boy, it was very neat. You can see holes where the candles went.

There was so much ooh and aah around this cake at the party, all tge grownups trying to get q picture, and kids just wouldn't stop prying at it, that i got zip for a decent "showcase" photo. It did look better a lot, in person. But one reward was - how happy and thrilled everyone was. The whole cake was custom made/filled, tge tricky thing was to make one side of it a fresh strawberry shortcake with fresh berries and whipped cream filling, and deliver to a hot and humid outdoor water party.

It was fun to create, and a heck of an enjoyment out of how happy everyone was with both looks and taste. [postimage id="4307" thumb="900"]

This was the most difficult figure I've ever made. Fondant was not meant to do this! Every time I touched him something broke or cracked. He's held together with toothpicks and chocolate cement.

fantastic cakes - love the frog cake and that multi layered wedding cake - wonderful.

I've had a thank you note from my neighbour (with a cheque) which says "Dear Helen, the cake was delicious - 10/10 from the whole family.  Pete was blown away by the design and it completed a brilliant day. thank you again!.

Isnt that nice feedback for my first 'commission' and it helps me have belief in myself that i can do (Ok, maybe basic) stuff if people ask.

@hep275 ‍ Congrats! ‍ It's great to get good reviews, but don't rely on them too heavily. When we first start out we sit on pins and needles waiting to hear back that they loved it and it was the hit of the party. If we don't we feel like they didn't like it or something went wrong. Don't do that to yourself!  Some people will be extremely happy and satisfied with your cake and never say a word to you until they order again. Others will rave to you when they pick it up and you'll never hear from them again. It's a funny business. The best review is the return order.

The best review is the return order.

How true.  As a homebaker who isnt going to do much in the way of work for other people though I was touched that I got a hand written note, a nice pat on the back for my first ever order.

I'm the same way. Always waiting on a reply back on my Facebook messenger, which is how I communicate with most customers. The day after their event I always leave a message telling them I hope everything went well and that the cake was everything they had hoped it would be and I remind them they can leave a review on my sight if they want to.

DAR917, I can't see your dragon cake at all!  it is just blank with a question mark in the middle.
