I was digging into a tub of Whip Cream to use it as a topper for chocolate dip strawberries.... Yum! That's the okay part...
The obsessed part is that I "noticed" how nice and thick the consistency of the whip cream was that I grabbed my small size decorating sptatula and started running it thru the whip cream as if I was smoothing icing on a cake... I had to stop myself and say..."Hey, give it up for a while, you are not putting icing on a cake here... its just Whip Cream!!! 
Has this happened to you? Obsessed over things like this??? Seeing shapes of cakes where there is none! LIke remember that movie... "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" where the character played by Roy saw in everything and anything the shape of the moutain where the aliens were to appear????
I felt like that.... Oh, my God, I am being abducted by cakes and icing...!!! 
You're too funny! I actually started seeing cakes too when I was trying to go to sleep the other night. I think it was the caffeine in the afternoon! It probably happens to all of us cakers. But I had some neat ideas... now if I could only remember them. I'll have to keep a cake journal beside my bed like some people keep dream journals. 
I do that too, rvallee - the dream thing. Just as I'm drifting to sleep, in that in-between stage, I'll imagine a 'brilliant' cake idea and it wakes me up. Of course, once I'm consious enough to really think about it, it's usually something rediculous... 
I see cakes everywhere!!
Especially in my sleep. What is worse is now my DD is starting to see them too. I think my obsession is rubbing off on her! Poor child! Unfortunately she does a better basketweave than I do, and I taught her! Go figure!!

What I hate is discussing things at work and thinking-right in the middle of the conversation-I could do a cake with...... or seeing something and picturing it on a cake, etc. Everyplace you look is a cake opportunity-either for an idea or colors etc!
We are having our basement finished and I was down there when they were doing the mudding for the drywall, thinking 'hmmmm, could I use that on a cake?' Sure enough, I wen to Home Depot and bought some smoothers....yup, everything revolves around cake!
I spent so much time on this site yesterday that I saw cakes when I closed my eyes last night!
Do any of you make a beeline for the cake table whenever you attend a wedding? My husband just laughs at me.
I not only make a beeline for the cake table but look at all the details and take pics of the cake....
