Can you please help me make this shoe fabulous? I have put luster dust on it since the picture but it just seems so blah to me........please help! This cake is for a great lady and I really would like her to love it!

Thanks so much!

Tammy

Also wanted to add that I suck at bows!

Love the shoe. Don't worry about it. Once you add it to the final cake it will be beautiful. The dust you added will be fine. We are our worst cridicts.(sp)

I have to agree with Debiashwood. It is a wonderful shoe, you will impress the pants off of everyone with it.

I think you did a great job. There are premade sparkly things you could add, bows etc. But because the shoe is made of sugar I would want to keep the decorations on it of sugar as well. I really don't think it needs anything, but if you want a little sparkle to it you could dust it with Super Pearl Luster dust.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, I guess I just find it so plain. Here is an updated picture of the shoe, did I go overboard?

Thanks!

Tammy-Great shoe! I start my gumpaste classes this weekend, I can't wait to learn how to work with so I can start making these. The person you made this for is going to flip! thumbs_up.gif

Your shoe looks great! I tried making one this last week and after 3 days of drying I tried to move it--broke into 3 peices. You did a good job!

You are going to IMPRESS whomever you are making this for... and I agree with Bob... never too much shimmery stuff- It makes the worst cake beautiful!

Okay, I still wasn't that happy with the first shoe and thanks to Couturiere's (spelling?) help I did this one today......which one does everyone like better? I personally like the second one.

Thanks!

I really like the updated first shoe and the second shoe. They look far more realistic with the lining in.

Yup- I think they are both good... I can see how #2 is smoother and the liner is WONDERFUL as far as making it look totally realistic. And I really love the little bow across the front.
Ok I'm going to have to try one of these, as soon as I get a reason to!

Great job. I like the second one for the same reasons as the others, it looks very realistic from the attention to details. I'm not a shoe person on cake or on me but I have to say it makes me want buy some. thumbs_up.gif

Okay, here's the finished project. I know I need to work on my fondant a lot! Not happy at all with that, but it's been awhile not that I'm trying to make excuses or anything icon_redface.gif . Overall, I think it turned out okay. I really hope she likes it and this generates more business for me as this cake is going to another town 20 mins away and it's for the District so fingers crossed.........

I charged $50.00 for this it's two 51/2 square cakes 3" high and the "lid" was carved from a 9x13 about an inch high. Buttercream filling and covered in fondant not to mention the gumpaste/fondant shoe. Just wondering if that's too much to charge or too little?

Thanks everyone!

Great job! I just love it! Is the "label" on the box made with edible image? Or did you freehand it?
You did great, and I repeat what I said before, they WILL be impressed1 GREAT job!!

Onto your ?- you said they are 51/2" square? If that's the case, i would charge $50. Any bigger then that I would charge at least $60.

lucakes,

wish I could tell you I freehanded that, I actually tried but had absolutely no success! Yes, it is an edible image. Thanks so much for the wonderful comments.

I just wanted to say I think your cake looks great! You did a great job on both of the shoes but I favored the second one as well. As far as price, I've never charged for cakes, I just started out, but I think you deserved at the least $50.
