I have seen people mention breaking it in to smaller amounts & freezing it for extended periods (6 months-1 year maybe?), but I've also seen where as long as it's kept in a cool spot it keeps well.  I don't have specifics though.  It's old, but here's a thread that talks about it a bit more.  http://www.cakecentral.com/index.php/forum/t/680592/how-long-will-the-hi-ratio-shortening-last

This is the company that I have ordered my Sweetex shortening. I have not found a lower price. It is a large cube. I split it up and put it in the freezer.
