Can cake lace be used on a buttercream cake or is it strictly for fondant covered cakes?

Thanks K8, I was thinking of using a crusting BC.  Are there any issues I should be aware of?

it was pretty straightforward -- just slap it on there -- while i am generally allergic to posting pictures online -- there's a picture of a black naked cake with lace on it in my gallery -- the bc filling is covered in lace --

well actually you want  your cake to be a little dampened so the lace will stick and but not enough to dissolve the lace -- and i did not necessarily do that -- they were just for family celebrations so...but that's about the only thing i can think of -- it's super beautiful and fun to work with
