Making a 2 tier square cake for 100 people .Haven't decided what the best size is for each tier, bottom will most likely be a 12" or 14" The bottom tier is to be covered on all 4 sides with edible glitter. I have never done this before, covered all 4 sides completely with glitter. Is it best to cover the tier with fondant, apply edible glue then apply the glitter?? Can anyone recommend the best glitter to use for this?? Most of the glitter I have found online comes in 1/4 oz. sizes.Does anyone know how much 1/4 oz will cover on a cake? Any info or help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you
Your best bet, and the most economical choice, is going to be colored sanding sugar. That's a large cake and it's going to take a lot of it. Sanding sugar will give you a decent sparkle effect at the lowest cost, and it's edible so you don't need to worry about that aspect of it.
