I am looking for a cookie recipe that holds it shape - doesn't spread when baked. I am attempting to use cookie cutters with lettering. I tried a "fancier" shortbread recipe, but didn't like the taste. I am not picky on what kind - gingerbread, shortbread, sugar and I am open to suggestions!

The strawberry sandwich cookie looks like a nice recipe that I'd also like to try. It's a shortbread recipe with an egg white to give it some strength. It should work perfectly with that red cutter shown above.
I've been using the No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe from kitchengifts.com for years. I refrigerate the dough before cutting [I roll out between parchment sheets and refrigerate the rolled out sheet of dough ] and then refrigerate again before putting in the oven. I have no issues with spreading, and I would see spreading easily because I often decorate with cut out fondant using the same cutter.
