So, here is the pics of the cute little practice cake that I made from Chocolate Modeling clay. I mad little whimiscal roses just to be cute. But the bride to be LOVED IT! We just have to decide on the cake mix because both she and I didn't care too much for the Champagne cake. I think we will do a strawberry and vanilla marble cake. Anyhoo, enjoy!

Cute! Now is the cake covered in the modeling clay too or is that fondant? Love the pink and brown colors.

Where did you find the modeling clay recipe?? Sounds like something fun to work with.

Wow, how cute, love the colors!! I´ve been following your threads on this white chocolate clay and I just want to ask... how hard is it to cover a cake with it? Did it harden like regular chocolate? How did you roll and have it to work with you for covering? Thanks so much, you have inspired me, I want to try now...

The whole thing is chocolate. Even the white is chocolate modeling clay. Here is the website i used!

Oh, yeah.....I had NO trouble covering the cake. Steady2Hands (cc user) told me to use crisco when kneading and it worked wonders. The warmth of your hands and crisco make the chocolate very pliable. The chocolate actually didn't harden. It had the consisintency of fondant because of the corn syrup. I guess it would take a couple of days for it to harden. It was a super hit with the kids. They devoured the roses!

Just printed it! Can't wait to try it!!! What type of chocolate did you use? I know it said any chips but Nestle seems thick when melted and Giraldahli (SP?) seems runny.

THANKS!!!!!! icon_smile.gif

I used Nestle White Chocolate chips and microwaved them for 1 min 30 seconds using 30 SECOND INTREVALS (it will be bad if you don't stop every 30 seconds and stir) and the dark choc. is Ghiradelli. I got the pink by using my Ameri Color soft pink gel color and it didn't seize up on me thankfully. The Ghiradelli was a little more runny but once you put the cornsyrup in a fold it will thicken just fine and when you lay it all out on the parchment paper it will harden just like the other types. I had no troubles.

Do they use this same chocolate to cover the cheesecakes or are they covered in fondant? Does anyone know?

Thanks.

It is sweet. It just tastes like you took a handful of white chocolate chips and ate them icon_biggrin.gif But oh so yummy! My brothers girls ate every rose and pearl on that cake! mmmm....yum

Oh my gosh! I wish I could make roses so pretty! Steady2Hands made some gorgeous ones like that too!!! I need someone to teach me or I need to get ahold of the wilton book that has the instructions. I would love to be able to say that those are EASY! icon_biggrin.gif

icon_lol.gif Well at least all your hard work didn't go to waste. Usually your beautiful roses and pears don't get eaten.

Do you put a crumb coat of bc between the cake and the chocolate if you are covering the cake with it? I am assuming this tastes better than fondant... any one know?

Hey Katy ~ Steady here ~

One of the things that I thought makes this cake so special also is the shimmer on the pearls and roses. Very, very beautiful!

shipelyc - yes I used BC between the cake and the fondant. It becomes the glue for the chocolate. And as Steady2Hands noted when she made her GORGEOUS wedding cake, is to make sure the bc does not dry before you put the chocolate on. It needs it moist to stick.

Steady2Hands - Thank you!!! I could go on and on about your wedding cake! I had to show my DH and my brothers fiance too! I told him "you know the litte cake I made today? Well, look was this girl did today with the same stuff!!" They were in aww! I don't think you will ever see a cake from me that doesn't have luster dust on it!! I am totally hooked on it! What can I say, I like to shimmer!!! I am supposed to be making those darn cookies right now but I can't get my butt off of this site!!!! AAAHHH!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Yeah I know what you mean. I finally forced myself to go in the house and clean but it didn't take long till I was right back out here on my favorite place on the internet. thumbs_up.gif

I did experiment to try and whiten the WC clay. I added a touch of violet. It did turn it white but it was almost like a dirty white. thumbsdown.gif
