So i'm making a 3d dump truck cake this weekend and its gonna be for about 30 people. Originally, i was going to make it 10 inches long, 4 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall but i'm not sure if that will be enough cake. Also would a cake this size need dowels or some other type of support? I can go bigger i just don't want to make it too big. Thanks for the help! :)
I always find Carved cakes are very deceptive on how many they will feed... Especially in the carving stage! They always look so little. But once you add the ganache and fondant the seem to grow exponentially!!. I would stick with your plan and if when its done you still think it's too small, make some cake pops or cupcakes to fit in with your design.
Bubble tea straws are always a good idea for structured cakes.
