I've been going back and forth on whether or not to buy a handheld steamer for steaming fondant cakes.  What I want to know is...do you steam your fondant cakes?  If so, does the cake stay shiny or does it just go away after it dries?

I like the look of steamed cakes (of course it started with Buddy), and I feel like it would take aaway any residue left on the cake (powdered sugar).  I have used clear alcohol to get rid of it in the past, but feel like steaming would be more effective, fast, and serve a duel purpose in making the cake look even better.

On the other hand, it could just make it worse.  I've heard a steamed cake is just like painting your house with shiny paint....every imperfection will show.

Thoughts/experiences please and thank you!
