So I am back after a very long hiatus from CC. For those of you who either don't know or forgot I moved from Canada to France for a year. Here I am 5 months in to my trip and i have decorated one cake. It looked pretty bad to my standards.
I have finally been able to get back to CC (i was without internet for a long time) and it has made me realize that i miss cake decorating more than I have let my self admit. I am hoping that i will be able to do the birthday cake for one of the girls, and i know i will for sure be doing a cake for my friend's birthday.
I guess I will have to settle for looking and reading on the forums until I reach the end of this long dark tunnel.

Welcome back to CC. I have no idea how you survived that long without CC. Was a 12 step program involved? I would need one for sure.

Could you make a cake...just because? Maybe for a neighbor or coworker if you didn't want to keep it yourself. Either my son or I have been sick for about 3 weeks now and I'm missing it -I do more 'baking' -layer cakes, cupcakes, etc than decorating) but I do miss it.

France its self is not a dark tunnel. I am just refering to the lack of decorating that I have been able to do. There are not that many cooking courses in the area that I am living and i have not seen any decent cakes since i have arrived!! It has been quite disappointing. The markets are nice though and you can get some really good fresh ingredients at them for cheaper than supermarkets.

Cakerer i found i just had to go cold turkey to quit this site. I am trying the same theory to try to quit the swiss chocolate that i have an all too easy access to.
I would love to do a cake just because but there is very little proper cake decorating supplies out here and the stuff i can find is expensive. I brought some of my own but i have to make it last until i get home. It costs too much in shipping to order online too. I think some of our european friends on here can attest to what i am saying. It is very frusterating

I dont know what France is like for cake shops but in England i think we have loads of great sugarcraft equipment suppliers, I dont find it expensive either, but I have never been to the US so i cant say if thats any cheaper. Sorry you found it that way, you should have come to England we have loads of cake/ baking courses and shops.
