When using SPS I do all the prep ahead of time (poking the hole in the cardboard) but when I go to place the cake on the plastic plate I have a heck of time getting the pre-poked hole to line up.  I have a hard time as it is moving my fingers and balancing the cake to stack anyways but trying to line up that hole is making it even harder.  I do the whole place one side down and then lower with a spatula.  Once I get the tier on I can't always tell if I got it on the hole or not.  Then I worry because not having it lined up would probably make it unstable and wobbly.

Is there a trick to doing this?  Will not having it lined up and not knowing it cause major problems?

Thanks!
