Hi! I love the flavored cakes that have syrup in them and a buttercream frosting. I wanna recreate this to a cake ball. For example a rum cake ball.
For those cake ball experts, would you mix the cake crumbs with both the syrup and buttercream? Or just the syrup? Or buttercream and inject them with the syrup? I have never made cake balls before.

For cake pops DRY is the key. Use just enough liquid (extracts/ icing) to bind the cake scraps together. Injecting or adding extra I see as a mess that would dissolve the coating.
Consider using "candy" flavorings (http://www.lorannoils.com/) so that one drop goes a LONG way.
