Looking For Tips On An Edward Gorey Etching/woodcut Look To Fondant

Hi 

I am looking for a way to make an Edward Gorey  with this kind of illustration look.

I'd do it with a food coloring marker and just draw it on. Gorey was an illustrator so it's not a woodcut as far as I know, he just used that linear style. I did an Alice in Wonderland cake last year and used a calligraphy dip pen with black food coloring and it gave me a good graphic look, but it took forever.  https://www.facebook.com/acaketoremember/photos/pb.92855088670.-2207520000.1431567707./10152377617553671/?type=3&theater

Thanks!  Yeah I guess I was looking even for anything that resembled the lines he used, so I thought of any techniques for the lines from woodcut but it looks like drawing might be the way. Great job on Alice!
