I have tried googling before I post this I promise. I have looked everywhere but I can not seem to find an answer! I want a box that will fit 12 cupcakes side by side (with no insert). I am trying to be more economical by getting just the box without inserts but I can't figure out what size the box would be! Anyone have any ideas? I used to deliver cupcakes like this (side by side) with no issues but I can not remember what the size of the boxes were.
Standard cupcakes are roughly 3" in diameter on top so a snug fit would be 9" x 12".
I just delivered 100 cupcakes and got 12 in my 10"x10" boxes without the inserts. My cupcakes were placed in wraps though, which helped with the protection of the buttercream swirl. The wrap sides are quite rigid. I also ditch the inserts when I bake in the thicker baking cups. However, if just using the thin paper cupcake paper, I would always use the box inserts to protect the icing decoration.
Here's 2 pics of the wraps vs the rigid baking cups... the wraps are slightly thicker cardboard
