Can somebody please guide me with this technique.. Does it look like piping? pearls? Do i just put piping gel and stick the pearls or is there a better way? Thanks :)

They do look like live different size silver pearls (or they could be plain pearls highlighted in a silverish color). Either way, use various sizes 4mm,6mm etc to get that look. I haven't done that technique but I would try something that would actually dry hard as opposed to piping gel? Royal icing might be a pain to paint on since it would dry quick, but a gumpaste glue might work too (gumpaste mixed in a little water).

I'm not crazy about the pattern that they used on that cake. Were they trying to resemble vines?  I've seen another similar look where the the pattern is painted in silver, and then silver dragees of different sizes are added onto the vines in different places. Similar to this : http://www.weddinous.com/wedding/white-wedding-cake-with-vines.html . Much more pleasing to the eye IMO.
