Am I the only one who is so anxious to finish my cake that I do not take enough time to do each step well. I am so excited thinking what the cake will look like that I have a hard time waiting for my icing to crust or my crumb coat to set.
How do I learn patience????

I used to have trubble with that too! But mainly my problem was underestamating how much time I would need, so I rushed. I'd sugest stretching out the time used to decorate over 2 days maybe (depending on the size of the project of course!) or seting up activites for yourself between key steps, like a favorite TV show or a book you like, or play a game with your kids (?) or whatever sounds good. For me, with beig projects I like to bake the cakes one day, tort, fill and crumb coat the next day, and decorate the day after that. With small cakes I bake and crumb coat one day and decorate the next, or I watch TV for a brake.

when you learn, let me know how you did it..... I am the same way....
My dh and dd don't want to wait for me to decorate the cake. They're happy with the crumb coat.
I also have a baby and barely have time to practice. You can tell on my borders when the baby starts to cry. The quality just aint the same! ![]()
