I am planning on making just plain old buttercream and putting oreo's in it because I don't want to have to refrigerate the cake I'm making (it's for work and will sit out all day long). My question is rather silly, but do you put in JUST the cookie part, or the filling as well? And does it taste ok with plain buttercream instead of using the recipe posted on this site?

I've made this quite often and it's definitely a big hit. Crush the whole cookie and add to the whipped cream. It's the best!

I hope this isn't a silly question but what flavor cake goes best with the cookies/cream filling? Or are they all good?!

How far in advance can you make this?? If I use the recipe on here that calls for using whipping cream, I'm assuming you can't make it too far ahead because the cream would melt??? It sounds so yummy now I'm hungry! ha.
