Even though my mother and father lived in south philly for over 20 years and my grandmother and family still live there i have never been to the italian market...crazy huh? So im online looking for an educated cake pan and i come across Fante's and i go to order the pan and realize its in south philly. So i decide why not take a drive (from south jersey-15 minutes tops) and check it out to save on shipping and buy more stuff haha.

this store is AWESOME!!!!! If you get a chance to go it is on 9th street. www.fantes.com i spent $100 easily and got some cool stuff (like chocolate transfer sheets that put designs on the chocolate, and i finally found a 12x18x3 pan AND is was magic line!!!!!!!)

Just thought id pass on the news if anyone was looking for a place to shop around here.

That is a road trip that a fellow decorator and I have planned for warmer weather! I have heard two different descriptions of them 1) They are not that great 2) They are totally awesome!

This confirms what I have suspected all along - it is worth the day trip to go there.

How is parking down there?

I went on a friday afternoon so parking wasnt that bad. And it was about 10 degrees outside so no one was reallky out. The main street (9th streee) you cant park on but the pependicular streets you can. Just drive until you find a spot and make sure its a legal spot and you shoudl be fine.

Since you have heard mixed reviews just check out the website. They have the same stuff in the store so if you like what they have online youll like the store. I brought a list of stuff with me and then bought some extras. Their prices on most things are reasonable some were a little higher then my local acmnoore and michaels (which i can use a coupon for). But i would definately go back there since its only a 15 minute drive for me.

I have looked at their website a few times, to see if they carry certain items that I seek. Their prices may be a little more than the craft stores, but they sell the paddle I seek for my mixer, at lots less than other companies, so it would be worth the drive.

well thats perfect. they have a whole little kitchenaid section with mixers and all. The best part about the store is everyone is soooooo helpful. Gotta love the italians in south philly. The one lady in there basically took me by hand to find and explain everything i asked about in the store. They even have little how to guides hanging around (ex. madelines, or chocolate transfers...)

I know its really crowded on saturdays when they have the market open not sure which saturdays it is though. hth

I think they have a second location in the Court and the Plaza at King Of Prussia Mall here in PA too. Twice the shopping fun!
